About Me

The Journey Into Life after 55

Hi! I’m Kevin, the one on the left and the creator of feelingaliveafter55.com. The idea for a site such as this came to mind when I was 57 and offered a seniors discount at one of our local retailers. I didn’t know if I should be insulted or take the discount and count it as a win. I really wasn’t sure how I felt, I didn’t think I looked that old. I did take the discount but I also realized I really am stepping into the early years of advanced maturity.

This small, but significant to me, wake up call got me thinking about the changes aging brings to most of us at some point in time. When chatting with friends and family, 55 seems to be the number when shifts in both physical and mental realms start to appear. Having past that number by a few years now, I can attest there are changes. Not all changes are significant though, and the same changes don’t happen to everyone. The biggest change I felt – my way of thinking.

I figured if I was starting to ask questions about potential physical and mental changes and life in general after 55, I was certain I was not alone. Hence, feelingaliveafter55.com was created. It isn’t just a website – it’s a conversation starter. It’s a space for exploring solutions, sharing ideas, experiences and maybe raising more questions about what life after 55 can be.

My passions haven’t changed as I’ve aged, nor has my desire to explore the world. Whether I am hiking or biking a new trail or simply enjoying a weekend camping trip, these activities fuel my spirit. They are more than hobbies, they’re my lifeline to staying vibrant.

The Community of +55

I’m building this website for people like you and me – those who are stepping into this new chapter and are looking to embrace it fully. This platform aims to connect with those who share a curiosity about life beyond 55 – a curiosity for not just what’s ahead but also what we can make of it. We’re all searching for different things: solutions, strategies or ideas on how to overcome the hurdles that aging sometimes presents.

Through feelingaliveafter55.com, I hope to shed some light on how we can continue to enjoy life’s pleasures, maintain our mental and physical well-being, and view the golden years as an opportunity for growth and discovery – not as a limitation.

Our discussions here are about equipping ourselves with the mindset that aging gracefully is possible and should be celebrated as another exciting time of learning and exploring. Will we face challenges? Sure, but we’ll face them together, armed with shared wisdom.

Your insights and experiences can enrich this space, and I invite you to participate. Let’s keep questioning, discovering, and redefining what life after 55 truly means. Thanks for being here, and I look forward to exploring life’s possiblities with you.

  1. I really enjoyed reading your story, Kevin! The way you turned a small moment into a meaningful journey of reflection and connection is inspiring. I completely agree that life after 55 isn’t about slowing down. It’s about shifting perspectives and staying curious. Your site feels like a warm and welcoming space for real conversations. Do you plan to include guest stories or interviews to expand the community’s voice even more?

    • Hi Kavitha; Thank you for your kind comments. Staying curious is so important in keeping the mind sharp. There is always something for us to learn regardless of our age. I am still in the infant stages of my website but the thought of having guest stories and interviews has crossed my mind. Thank you for that suggestion. I too think it would be a great addition.
